West Coast Noir & Other Shenanigans

Alright, buckle up, folks. This isn't your grandma's book club newsletter. I'm finally pulling back the curtain on this writing gig, and if you're expecting fluffy kittens and rainbows, you've come to the wrong place.

This blog's gonna run right alongside my bigger writing projects, a gritty little companion piece to show you what actually goes down behind the scenes.

My journey started in Brisbane back in '81. Yeah, I'm one of those old people, and I swear I popped out with a taste for the dark stuff. Crime fiction? That's my jam, always has been. Books, films, TV – if there's a dead body and a mystery to crack, I'm all in. Especially when it's Australian. There's just something about our local brand of fucked-up, whether it's the sun-baked outback hiding a thousand secrets or the grimy underbelly of our cities.

It's in the DNA of what I write, no question.

In 2007, I hauled my arse west to Perth. Never looked back. Now, I'm holed up with my long-suffering wife, two small humans who are constantly trying to set fire to something, (usually the peace and quiet,) and a pair of dogs who think they run the whole show.

My chaos, my inspiration, and sometimes, the reason I need a stiff drink by 10am.

I'm always jotting, always plotting, always trying to wrestle a story onto the page. It's a sickness, I tell ya.

So, this blog? It's where I'll be throwing out updates, ranting about the crime fiction that gets under my skin, and maybe, just maybe, letting you in on the glorious clusterfuck that is my everyday life.

Thanks for dropping by. Let's see where this twisted road takes us.
